Dragon Boat Festival on 28 May 2008

On today afternoon, surprisingly, it was cool because the sky clouded over. However, the heavy rain did not deter the enthusiasm of the people becasuse the dragon boat race was bitter and excited at Stanley. The supporters shouted excitedly to boost the morale to the paddlers.

Nowadays, Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships is an popular international event in Hong Kong and attracts thousands of people to turn out. Many foreigners in large-scale multinational corporations form the team to take part in it. It is an important symbol of cultural exchange between chinese and western.

The heavy rain did not deter thousand of people who turned out to watch dargon boat race.

















Dragon Boat Festival is also called as Tuen Ng Festival, which is 5th day of the 5th month in Chinese Lunar calendar. The dragon boat race is one of events celebrating the festival. The rule of dragon boat race is complying with international standards that the boats are medium size and wooden as well as carrying a crew of 22 including drummer and steersman.

























The cheer squad composed of the good-looking young girls boosted the morale to the paddlers.
























Even the rain came down, it did not deter thousand of people to gather on the beach.



























The dragon boat paddlers chanted the slogans in costumes and painted their faces. Their funny and creative dressings added the carnival atmosphere to the race.
